At the 39th Pacific Northwest Kendo Federation tournament, Hawaii entered a group of 7 kenshi. In individual competition, Andy Cheng took 2nd place in the 1-3 kyu. Other members won their first matches but did not advance to the semifinals.
In the senior team competition, Hawaii took first place, defeating Yoshinkan dojo (Canada. Hawaii also defeated (in order Vancouver, Steveston and Mexico.
